The lovely seashore path that leads northward along the Foyle estuary from Moville towards Greencastle is a place of great childhood memories for me. My late mother was a native of Quigley’s Point, a small village also nestled on the Foyle shore some 13 km south of Moville. Our family spent many happy days there with my grandparents and subsequently my two aunts who lived in the fine house overlooking Lough Foyle. ‘Walking the shore’ in Moville was mandatory though no hardship as we have always loved this delightful path with the sea beside you and beautiful houses to peer at! It is a kind of cross between old English seaside and The Hamptons on a small scale.
Access is from a small car park near the seashore and the route is straightforward there and back, as far as you want to go. There are small portions across charming beaches. It is even possible to walk all the way to the fishing port of Greencastle, the last kilometre being on public road.
