6. Corravaddy Wood

A little bit of ‘Game Of thrones’ in Donegal!

Please Note: The car park may be very busy at weekends. A second parking space is now available 100m toward Drumkeen.

This is a perfect morning or Sunday afternoon woodland walk not far from Letterkenny. It is not strenuous and can be completed in about 45 min. From Oldtown in Letterkenny turn right at the Oldtown Bar and then take the next left turn. Continue up the hill for 5km where there is a small car park on the left. The trail is forest road gently downhill initially to a barrier. Pass the barrier and after 20m take a left onto an enchanting path that winds through trees and across streams. Keep right at the next turn and continue through tree canopies until you emerge into the open ground and the path slopes upward toward the road. Look out for a right turn about 150m before the road that will take you back into the woodland for a last treat before joining the track you started on near the car park.

The walk can also be accessed from the Twin Towns side by taking the first left after Rosie’s Bar outside Drumkeen village and continuing for 3.3 km where the car park will be on your left.
